This bill passed on Thursday. Overturning the 119-year-old law, which has been criticized by opponents as antiquated.

The law sparked weeks of heated debate and deeply divided the state's conservative government.

Previously, abortions were only possible in NSW if doctors deem "There is a serious risk" to a woman's health.

The law, passed 26-14 in the state House of Representatives after discussing more than 100 possible amendments, has already been approved by the upper house.

The law states that a woman's termination of pregnancy should be done for up to 22 weeks or later if two doctors agree.

The reforms were strongly opposed by activists and some MPs who objected because of their personal beliefs. as well as concerns about late-stage abortions.

But last-minute amendments have persuaded some conservative MPs. And the bill was supported by other parties.
